Nepal is a small beautiful Himalayan democratic republic country situated in South Asia. It has been situated between India and China, India in its southern part, and China's Tibet in the northern part. Kathmandu Valley is the Capital city of this country. It is famous for its archaeological, historical, religious, and cultural heritages. This country had a Hindu monarchical ruling system till 2008 A.D. It was a more than 200 years old ruling system. After the abolition of the monarchy, there is a federal democratic parliamentary ruling system. Sad to say there is rampant corruption in government and public institutions of Nepal.

 

Nepal is beautiful in its geographical diversity, ecological diversity, and flora & fauna. The fertile land of Terrain, the cool and green hills, and the snow-capped Himalayas have contributed to its beauty.

 

SagarmathaMount Everest- is the highest peak in the world lies in this country. It is a country of lakes and ponds. It is the second rich country in water resources after Brazil.

 

Nepal is the country with the highest Mountain peaks because the eight mountain peaks that are above 8000meter high lies here. Those peaks are Kanchanjangha, Lhoste, Makalu, Cho yo, Dhalagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna. 


Nepal is home to a one-horned rhino. Chitwan National Park, Bardia National Park and Parsha Wildlife Reserve are famous for one-horned rhino.

 

Naturally beautiful and diverse Nepal has many lovely national parks to visit. Sagarmatha National Park, Chitwan National Park, Bardia National Park, Koshi Tappu Wild Life Reserve, Khaptad National Park, Annapurna Conservation Area and Suklaphata National Park are most interesting and visiting parks.

 

The famous tourist visiting places are- Kathmandu valley, Pokhara valley, Annapurna trekking route, Manang, Mustang, Humla, Jumla, Chitwan, Khaptad, Rara, Fewa lake, Upper Mustang, Api conservation area and there are many other untrodden tourist places. You can enjoy high standard accommodation facilities in the starred hotel.

 

Nepal is rich in its religious, cultural, and social aspects. Approximately, 81% of the Nepalese population is Hindu, 9% are Buddhists, 4% are Muslims, 3% are Kirati and others are Christian, Nature worshipper, Bon, Sikhism and Jainism.

 

Nepal is the most Hindu-majority country in the world. Lord Pashupatinath is considered to be the god of the nation. Lord Gautam Buddha- the forerunner of peace- was born in Lumbini, Nepal. But there is religious and cultural tolerance in this country.

 

Nepalese society is a caste-based social system. Four major castes are- Bhramin, Kshetri, Baishya, and Sudra. Besides this, there are other indigenous nationalities called Adibashi/Janajatis, Newar, Tharu, and Madhesi. There are 125 castes and 131 languages are spoken and among them, Nepali is the official language. The caste system and Untouchability are the bad side of Nepalese society.

 

Nepal is a culturally rich country. Major Nepalese festivals are Dashain, Tihar, Fagu, Maghi, Mahashivratri, Krishnajanmastami, Chaite Dashain, Teej, Lohsar, Udhauli, Uvauli, Buddhajayanti, Chhat, and festive like Indra Jatra, Bisket Jatra, Machhendranath Rathyatra and so many other cultural ceremonies.

 

Nepal is an agriculture dominant country where two-third of the whole population does farming. Farming and animal husbandry are the main occupations. People keep oxen and bulls for digging fields with plows. Besides this jobs, daily wages, small business, cash cropping, fruit farming, fisheries, and so on are other sources of income. Most of the unemployed youth go to India and the gulf countries for employment. It is not an industrially developed economy. Rather tourism has created some jobs for Nepalese.

 

Nepal is a country of villages. Some 80% people of the whole population reside in rural areas. People have traditional model houses in villages. Most Nepalese have their own land and house to live in.

 

Women's status is very pathetic; mostly women from remote rural, hill, and mountainous areas. Their educational status is poor. As there is a patriarchal society, men go out to earn money and women take the responsibility of household chores. There is no land and no bank balance in women's names. But in the present day time, there are improvements in women's education and women's employment sectors.

 

Nepal is a land of braves Gorkhali. Khukuri is their weapon. They do not fear to fight and die because they are either brave or foolish. Brave Nepali had fought with the British regime of India with Khukuri, Bhala, Hasiya, stones, Muda. Nepali had fought in First World War, Second World War, War of Barma, War of Malaya, and so on. Even today, Nepalese youth are in British Army, American Army, Indian Army, French Police, Singapore Police, and the like. The Nepalese Army has played a vital role in UN peacekeeping work.

 

Dhaka Topi (Cap) on the head and Daura Suruwal (dress) with a Khukuri at the waist (man) and Gunnyue Choli (gown and bodice) of women are their national dresses.

 

Nepalese are sociable, helpful, and friendly. It is Nepalese culture to respect guests as deities. If you arrive at somebody's home in a rural area; first, they will give you a glass of water; then ask whether you have taken a meal or not. If not, they will offer you a meal. It is the very safe and peaceful country for tourists.

 

Nepal is rich in Foodourism

Foodourism means food+tourism. Tourism for experiencing food culture. As Nepal is rich in communities and cultures, so it is rich in food culture too. Different communities have different varieties of food/dishes. One can taste purely traditional food varieties from veg to non-veg.

 

Dalbhat, Roti, Tarkari, Chatani and Goras (milk, yogurt) is the main Nepali Food. There are other types of dishes like Thakali Food, Newari Food, Madeshi food items, Jantati food items, Tharu food items, Doteli food item, home-made organic alcohol, Dhindo and many more other food items.

 

As most Nepalese are Hindu, they do not eat beef. They worship the cow as a goddess of Wealth. You hardly find beef in hotels.

 

Nepali people are connoisseurs of tea. They take milk tea and black tea (tea with sugar, lemon juice, or ginger, or Timur). They take tea at least three times a day. They do not reject the offer of tea. Guests are welcomed with tea. In city dweller youth tea and cigarette is most prevalent these days.

 

Most Nepalese in rural areas have either a cow or a buffalo that gives milk. They keep cows and buffalo primarily for household purposes. In some societies, people do not sell milk at the market. It is because of the belief that the deity of the dynasty (Kuldeuta) becomes angry if done so.

 

Nepalese society believes in fate, destiny, prenatal, and rebirth. They believe in supernatural things like god, goddess, deities, demons, witchcraft and witch doctor. They believe that happiness, success, money and riches, wife, husband, children, diseases, poverty, misery, sorrow and things like this are predetermined in human life. There was a life before this life and after death the soul will enter a new body (human or other creatures) or if human beings have done good holy deeds and devotion to god, they become free from the cycle of life and death.

 

Married women are devoted to their husbands. Husband is god for them. They take fast for the longevity of their husbands. They do not hit back to their husbands in case of disputes. They cannot think of divorce even though their husbands torture them. Rather they settle themselves separately but do not give divorce. But nowadays cases of divorce are increasing in the cities.

Thus, Nepal is a naturally incredibly beautiful, religiously diverse, and tolerant, socially and culturally rich country. It has a lot of possibilities in tourism. Mountain climbing, paragliding, bungee jumping, sight-seeing, trekking, rafting, traveling, rural tourism, swimming, sunbathing, foodourism, hunting, and pilgrimage are some major tourism activities that happen in Nepal. Tourism in Nepal is cheaper than in other countries. One can visit Tibet and India as these lands are adjoining to Nepal. So guys, let's travel to Nepal.
